Post Op Update

Sorry, that it has taken me a while to get back to everyone. But the surgery was successful, but it was also as thourogh as I had feared. The tumor was large enough that it was pushing on the bladder, rectum, and pelvic bone. I may have some high dose radiotherapy to loook forared to, but I won't knpe for sure until Monday/Tuesday.

More updates will follow, so keep and eye out for my blog/e-mails.

Me and Dr. Foster. I respect him greatly, it is professionals like him that make our chronic diseases curable. Posted by Hello

This is the Cancer Survivor's Park near IUPUI. It's really neat place. Posted by Hello

My new car (I wish). It's actually my rental. The lady at Hertz gave us a free upgrade. I think I have a new favorite car! Unfortunatly I only got to drive it one day, Amy gets to drive it the rest of the week. Posted by Hello

Update

I met with Dr. Foster today to discuss my surgery. There is hope that I can
avoid a colostomy, but the bladder, all of my nodes up to the split of the
aorta, my nerve bundles, and possibly a chunk of muscle will be removed. My
surgery will begin at 9:00 a.m. central and last about 5 hours.

The Fox-23 interview aired last night. They have it online for everyone to
view this time! Just click this link:

and select the 06/13 health alert link. I'm really proud of the job they did
on the interview.

If that link doesn't work go to www.fox23.com select the video section, then select the health interviews, and click the 06/13/05 interview.

One Day till surgery, means it's bowl prep time! I get to drink some lovely phospho-soda. And I get to enjoy an all liquid diet today. Everyone who has had a colonoscopy is familiar with this stuff. Posted by Hello

Getting Ready for Indy

Today is the last day before the big trip. Time to pack things up, get all my pre-op prep meds together, and enjoy some pre-surgery time with the family. I won't be able to lift anything for a while, so I'm getting all my horseplay in with my kids today. My little ones, Lanie and Evan, enjoy being held up so they can play like they are superheroes. Super-Lanie likes to fly around and give her brothers and Mommy kisses. Super-Evan just giggles. Yesterday was Amy's birthday, so I did as much as I could to give her a day of rest (she really needs one, these kids are a handful even when I'm 100%). Tonight we're having her birthday dinner at my Mom's, homemade lasagna.

My next blog entry will be from Indy.
