A fellow survivor's website

Austin is a TC survivor and he documents his experiences on this website. I love how the internet and list servs allow cancer survivors to communicate and support each other.

Results are in from my CT Scan

They want to have a second radiologist read the results and I may have PET scan to look forward to. "Hypodense" tissue that one thinks is just scarring may be active tumor. I'll keep everyone updated as I find out more. Looks like it may be until Tuesday before I have more information.

This could very easily be nothing, or it could be another chapter in my journey.

CT Scan today

Today I had my first post-chemo Surveillance CT Scan. It is always an emotional and stressful event for me to undergo a scan. I never know whether I'm going to get an all clear from Dr. Langerak or a repeat of last October when I found out that the C had returned.

From my discussions with fellow survivors these are the hardest events to cope with when we are on surveillance. Especially for those of us who have had a recurrence.

As soon as I hear back from the Dr., I'll let everyone know the results.

A good friend has joined the Peleton

A friend from work, Steve, has joined the LAF peleton. I wanted to share his website with everyone.

LiveStrong Steve!

Ski to Live

I found this article about cancer survivors who use Skiing to help them cope with the trials of survival. I think it's worth a read.

Great News Today!

The LAF has invited me to be part of a LiveStrong awareness day in Washington DC! I'll get to meet with my congressmen, tell them my cancer story, and urge them to support pending legislation. I'm very excited about this opportunity. I submitted my registration form and I'm waiting to hear back. I'll keep everyone updated.

PS - You may have noticed Google ads on the sidebar, I signed up and should receive some money from them based on the site traffic. All the money I get will be donated directly to my LAF Peleton Account. So every click on the banner will help.

NY Times Health Article

A friend sent me this article from the NY Times health section. You will need to register to read it (it's a free registration), but it is worth the read regardless.

One quote that stood out in the article was:

"What you often see is people use something like cancer as an opportunity to discover value in their lives, and meaning," Dr. Taylor said. "They reorder their priorities. They focus on relationships more. Control and optimism shift to things that can be dealt with."

I have seen this in every survivor I have spoken with and in my own life. It is how we cope with the anxiety of the future.
