Wow, what a difference a year makes! Easter last year.

Little better today

I've been drinking lots of water, I think I'm dehydrated, and I'm feeling a little better today. I need to, I only have next week and then it's treatment day #3.

Second time around really sucks

I'm starting to really feel the grind of two major surgeries, 4 rounds of BEP and so far 2 rounds of Adria. I've lost 10lbs from not eating well, and my energy is really starting to drop (Nadir Week#2).

Part of me wishes I could just quit and get healthy. All I want is to feel normal and get to ride my bike again.

The worst part is that this chemo is really a stab in the dark. No one knows whether it will work to keep a new sarcoma tumor from presenting or not. Kind of hard to keep your focus when there is that kind of doubt.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not quitting and I'm going to push through this regimen. This is just the real emotions and feelings of a survivor in my situation. I want everyone to know what it takes to fight through this crap. The emotional, mental, and physical strain is overwhelming at times.

EGC - What is it?

I had a rare (emphasis on rare) form of Testicular Cancer, called Extra-Gonadal Germ Cell Cancer or EGC for short. Very few people know what it is, so I just refer to myself as a TC Survivor even though I never actually had cancer in a testicle.

For more information on what EGC is and how dangerous it is, the TCRC has a great site http://tcrc.acor.org/egc.html

Some personal stories of EGC survivors: http://tcrc.acor.org/stories_egc.html

Here's a pic of the TC "ribbon"

Blueboy

Check out the TC awareness campaign that the Brits are running. I love the stick figure ribbon. I filled out the online form to get one, hopefully they'll ship to the USA. Otherwise I may have to buy one e-bay or something.

This is the new Nike Cycling marketing campaign. I wonder how the French like it?

Minor setback this morning

I've been doing really well, slowly getting my appetite and energy back since last Monday. But I think I had my first migraine headache this morning. I tried to get ready for work but I ended up pushing myself too much. I am starting to feel better and plan on going in tomorrow.

That's one of the hardest things for me to get used too. I never used to miss work, I never used to even get sick. But over the last year I have missed work due to two surgeries and two chemo regimens.
